New Delhi, October 4, 2024:A delegation led by the organization’s General Secretary, Maulana Hakimuddin Qasmi, met with Ghaziabad Police Commissioner Shri Ajay Kumar Mishra today. The delegation submitted a formal memorandum demanding strict legal action against Mahant Yati Narsinghanand, accused of making highly derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The inflammatory statements have sparked widespread outrage and deep resentment within the Muslim community.Additionally, a complaint was lodged by the Jamiat delegation later in the evening at the IPS Police Station, Delhi. The delegation in Ghaziabad included prominent members such as Maulana Mufti Asjad Qasmi (General Secretary, Jamiat Ulama-e-Ghaziabad), Maulana Shabban (President, Jamiat Ulama Tehsil Ghaziabad), Maulana Furqan (Vice President, Jamiat Ulama Tehsil Ghaziabad), Hafiz Mustaqeem, Maulana Ghayur Qasmi, Maulana Ziaullah Qasmi, Maulana Zakir Qasmi, and Azeemullah Siddiqui. In Delhi, the delegation comprised Advocate Aqib Beg, Maulana Qasim Noori, and Asad Miyan.Key Concerns RaisedMaulana Hakimuddin Qasmi, speaking on behalf of the Muslim community, expressed the deep pain and hurt caused by Narsinghanand’s offensive remarks about the Prophet of Islam. He reminded the police that Narsinghanand had been arrested two years ago on charges of delivering hate speeches but was released on bail with the condition that he would refrain from making any further inflammatory statements. However, despite these legal restrictions, Narsinghanand has continued to violate the terms of his bail.Call for Stringent ActionMaulana Qasmi emphasized that this time, Narsinghanand has gone too far, crossing all limits of decency by insulting Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The Jamiat delegation urged the police to take immediate and firm action under Sections 79, 196(A), 197(C) & (D), 299, 302, and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
Advocate Aqib Baig highlighted concerns regarding the FIR registered in Ghaziabad under Section 302 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, explaining that it may not be sufficient to hold the offender accountable. He argued that failure to address the full scope of Narsinghanand’s criminal conduct could provide him an opportunity to evade justice. Therefore, the delegation called for the inclusion of additional charges under the relevant sections of the law to ensure that the case is prosecuted to the fullest extent.
